The Expressivity of Factual Change in Dynamic Epistemic Logic

چکیده

A commonly used dynamic epistemic logic is one obtained by adding common knowledge and public announcements to a basic epistemic logic. It is known from Kooi (2007) that adding public substitutions to such a logic adds expressivity over the class K of models. Here I show that substitutions also add expressivity over the classes KD45, S4 and S5 of models. Since the combination of common knowledge, public announcements and substitutions, was shown in Kooi (2007) to be equally expressive to relativized common knowledge these results also show that relativized common knowledge is more expressive than common knowledge and public announcements over KD45, S4 and S5. These results therefore extend the result from van Benthem et al. (2006) that shows that relativized common knowledge is more expressive than common knowledge and public announcements over K. §

Towards Symbolic Factual Change in DEL

We extend symbolic model checking for Dynamic Epistemic Logic (DEL) with factual change. Our transformers provide a compact representation of action models with preand postconditions, for both S5 and the general case. The method can be implemented using binary decision diagrams and we expect it to improve model checking performance. As an example we give a symbolic representation of the Sally-A...

Dynamic Epistemic Logic and Knowledge Puzzles

We briefly give an overview of Dynamic Epistemic Logic (DEL), mainly in semantic terms. We focus on the simplest of epistemic actions in DEL, called public announcements. We also sketch the effect of more complex epistemic actions, and briefly show how als factual change can be modelled in the same framework. We then apply the logic of public announcements in DEL to the analysis of a knowledge ...

Logics of communication and change

Current dynamic epistemic logics for analyzing effects of informational events often become cumbersome and opaque when common knowledge is added for groups of agents. Still, postconditions involving common knowledge are essential to successful multi-agent communication. We propose new systems that extend the epistemic base languagewith a newnotion of ‘relativized commonknowledge’, in such away ...

A Survey of Dynamic Epistemic Logic

Dynamic Epistemic Logic is the study of how to reason about knowledge, belief, and communication. This paper surveys this fast-growing field, covering syntax, semantics, axiomatics, bisimulation and action emulation, expressivity results, extension and embedding results, and issues of truth persistence and paradox that result from doxastic change. Along the way, we identify a number of open pro...

TR-2007025: Public Communication in Justification Logic

Justification Logic is the study of a family of logics used to reason about justified true belief. Dynamic Epistemic Logic is the study of a family of logics obtained by adding various kinds of communication to the language of multi-modal logic, yielding languages for reasoning about communication and true belief. This paper is a first-step in merging these two areas, in that it brings the most...
